Re: In Memoriam for Fran Owens

We write with great sadness about Fran Owens, who passed away on July 16. She was 63.

Fran dedicated 35 of those years to the University of California, Santa Cruz, touching the lives of many and adding greatly to our campus. In fact, every corner of UCSC reflects the work Fran did during her years as a planner and then as the Director of Capital Planning.

A few of the projects that Fran planned and helped bring to fruition include the Earth and Marine Sciences Building, the Music Center, the Physical Sciences Building, and the Humanities and Social Sciences Facility.

She was our colleague. She was our friend. She made a difference in our lives.

A celebration of Fran's life will take place in Santa Cruz on a date to be announced later.

Contributions in Fran's honor can be made to Friends of Long Marine Lab (Seymour Marine Discovery Center, 100 Shaffer Road, Santa Cruz, CA 95060).
