Re: May 16 Power Outage on Campus

On Tuesday morning, May 16, UCSC experienced a series of power outages that affected the upper campus. The outages occurred during a systems test performed to evaluate PG&E/UCSC power quality issues to the campus. The test was one of a series of tests to allow PG&E to measure power quality. Unfortunately, during this particular test the campus experienced a power failure on the upper campus.

We regret the inconvenience, particularly at this time of the day, caused to students, staff, and faculty trying to complete work near the quarter's end. We are working with PG&E to understand why the failure occurred and to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
