Re: Death of a UCSC student

It is with much sadness that I write to inform you that we've learned that one of our students, Kasey Chahal, died suddenly over spring break. Kasey, 21, was a senior majoring in sociology and legal studies. She was affiliated with College Nine and was scheduled to graduate this spring.

A promising young scholar, Kasey was planning to attend law school in Michigan this coming fall.

Kasey was also one of our student employees, working in the Financial Aid Office.

A memorial service for Kasey will take place on Thursday, April 6, at 11 a.m. in the Mission Chapel at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. The chapel's address is 32992 Mission Blvd., and its phone number is (510) 471-3363.

Please join me in expressing our very deepest sympathy to Kasey's parents, Dayal and Jackie; to her sister, Jasmeer, and other family members; and to her many friends.
