Re: Welcome to New University Relations Vice Chancellor
I am delighted to announce that Donna M. Murphy has agreed to join the UC Santa Cruz leadership team as Vice Chancellor of University Relations. Regental approval for her appointment has been finalized, and we expect to welcome her to campus on February 21. Donna has a distinguished background in successful fundraising, campaign organizing, and all aspects of university advancement. Most recently, she has served as the senior associate vice president for advancement for Tulane University's Health Sciences Center. In that position, she has provided dynamic leadership for planning, implementation, and management of development and alumni relations programs; legislative advocacy; and advancement communications. She also oversaw the development of a three-year plan to prepare for the public launch of a $202 million campaign for the center, which is more than three-fourths complete. The following news release will be distributed today, providing more details about Donna's impressive credentials: http://press.ucsc.edu/text.asp?pid=810 After Donna's arrival, you can reach her by phone (459.4750), e-mail (donnam@ucsc.edu), or fax (459.2702). Her office will be in Kerr 263-D. I would like to thank the selection committee, chaired by Sung-Mo "Steve" Kang, dean of the Baskin School of Engineering. Steve and his committee oversaw a national search for this critical position, and Donna Murphy's selection is the result of their dedicated efforts. I am also very grateful for the leadership that Vice Chancellor Tom Vani and Associate Vice Chancellor Elizabeth Irwin have provided as interim University Relations Co-Vice Chancellors. Their work in guiding the division during this period of transition has been of utmost importance to the campus, and I appreciate their successful efforts. Again, please join me in welcoming our new colleague, Donna Murphy.
