Administrative Message October 7, 2004 To: Campus Community From: Acting Chancellor Martin M. Chemers Re: Election Day, Tuesday, November 2While in no way suggesting how you should vote, I am writing to encourage everyone who is eligible to vote in the upcoming general election to exercise your right to do so. The deadline for new registrations, including re-registration due to change of address, is October 18. A Voter Registration Form can be obtained online by visiting the Secretary of State's web site (http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm) or the UCSC Voter Registration web site (http://www.ucsc.edu/register_to_vote/). Forms are also available at numerous locations on campus including McHenry Library, all Colleges, the Carriage House, Bay Tree Bookstore, the Student Health Center, as well as at local public libraries, post offices, or other government offices. With many important local and statewide ballot initiatives, many local, state, and federal legislative races, and the Presidential race, it is important that we all become informed and participate. In fact, an online, nonpartisan analysis of each statewide ballot initiative can also be viewed on the Secretary of State's web site noted above. Thank you for your time and consideration.
