Re: Passing of UC Santa Cruz's second chancellor, Mark Christensen
Dear Colleagues,
I was saddened to learn yesterday of the death of UC Santa Cruz's second chancellor, Mark Christensen.
A distinguished faculty member at UC Berkeley before and after his tenure at UCSC, Mark served as chancellor of this campus during a very important time in its formative years, in the mid-1970s.
A memorial service will be planned and details will be posted in Currents Online (http://currents.ucsc.edu) when they are known. You may also want to see the Public Information Office's press release (http://press.ucsc.edu/text.asp?pid=405) on Mark's passing.
Please join me in expressing our condolences to Mark's wife, Regine; and two children, Abe and Karen.
